Sister Irene O’Connor is a Franciscan Mission of Mary nun.
Irene has been credited as the first nun to have international success composing, performing and releasing her self penned original titles. Earlier titles were under the pseudonym of Mariam Frances.
She is currently composing new works for release later this year.
Her catalogue of work is vast and truly global. 2017 marked the 50th anniversary of her internationally famous hymn ‘God is Dwelling in my Heart’ from her 1967 debut album 'Sing a Song to the Lord'.
Globally, there has been a renewed awareness of Irene and her song ‘Fire’ from the LP 'Fire of God’s Love' released in 1973. Fire was recently featured in the song 'Where’s the Catch' from James Blake and former OutKast member Andre 3000 also making the BBC playlist of the popular TV series, Killing Eve.
